Job description
The main purpose: To operate systems and equipment at the CTICC which form part of a highly integrated expansive centrally controlled SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition). This critical operation is based on site and executed from the central control unit, the “Control Room”. The position will work closely with all departments to ensure delivery of services in a safe effective and professional manner. A key aspect of this position is to ensure services provided to the CTICC within the control room are at a five-star world class level in line with business expectations.
Reporting to the: Senior SHEQ Officer
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Control Room Operations
Operate and monitor all control and SCADA systems i.e., building management systems, access control, fire detection, lighting, voice evacuation, public address.
Ensure all faults detected are logged to the appropriate discipline.
Ensure all persons providing services from within the control room are at a five-star world class level in line with business expectations. This includes but is not limited to any security functions such as CCTV etc.
Conduct periodic evaluation of faults until resolution has been completed.
To ensure the control room is run in a safe, efficient, and best practice standard whilst ensuring all repairs and maintenance issues are addressed.
Ensure operating conditions within the venue are at an approved pre-defined levels in line with standard operating procedures i.e., air temperature, lighting, access control, fire detection.
Ensure prompt provision of any supporting services requested or required through the control room, using one’s initiative to assist were safe and viable.
Co-ordination of activation of services between disciplines taking event calendar and interested parties into account.
Assist with conducting fire detection equipment related testing, ensuring that the system is operating at an optimal level.
Communications and Control
Escalate issues which require immediate attention, often liaising with after-hours staff and management in coordinating temporary solutions.
Ensure power to and control of any systems which utilize power is managed in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Communicate faults, errors, or pertinent information with the relevant discipline.
Liaise with various members of the security department ensuring that any security issues are dealt with timeously.
May be required to act as liaison between emergency services in out of office time frames.
Administration
Maintain and update the “Occurrence Book” register ensuring any notable events are logged and handed over between shifts.
Ensure that all documentation pertaining to the standard operation and control of the control room is up to date and complied with fully.
Job requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Matric or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
Relevant level studies or certification which may be substituted by directly relevant experience which provides the necessary system knowledge and experience
3 years relevant operational experience in a highly integrated and technical environment preferably in the hospitality industry
Preference will be given to candidates with control room type event related experience
Preference will be given to candidates with integrated systems experience i.e., fire detection, access control, building management systems, CCTV, digital signage and point of sale
Must have hands on experience utilizing computer systems in delivery of services
