Job description

The main purpose: Accurate physical receiving of materials/product in order to maintain integrity of inventory control and insures delivery of materials/product to the proper department.

 

Reporting to the: Goods Receiving Supervisor

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1. Receiving

  • Schedule all inbound deliveries.

  • Receive all goods ordered in accordance with departmental procedures, HACCP and ISO standards. (this needs to be recorded on the HACCP log sheet).

  • Compliance with HACCP standards. 

  • Control and manage delivery times for all orders placed and provide necessary feedback to the Supervisor.

  • Check delivery documentation against purchase order for any discrepancies (quantity, quality, price etc.).

  • Liaise with suppliers re: incorrect deliveries and rejected goods.

  • Communicate and coordinates with appropriate internal official for incorrect deliveries and rejected goods.

  • Deliver products received to the appropriate personnel/departments; ensure that the invoices are signed by relevant personnel/department when goods are delivered.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment according to all department procedures, HACCP and any other legislative requirements.

  • Follow up with supplier if the delivery is not on time.

2. Administration

  • Write out credit notes for all stock returned or discrepancies in invoiced amount.

  • Keep record to ensure the duplicate orders, missing items and other discrepancies are not missed.

  • Keep record of credit notes issued.

  • Place food and beverage orders on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Processing of received products/goods into the system on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Ensure that invoices with purchase order attached is given to relevant personnel to capture on a timeously basis.

Job requirements

Minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 4)

  • Minimum 2 years’ of relevant experience in receiving food and beverage products within a warehousing/logistics environment.

  • Must have knowledge of HACCP.

Skills and attributes: 

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Administrative skills (capturing/processing of data)

  • A well-disciplined and meticulous individual.

  • Have the ability to work productively in a stressful, deadline driven environment.

  • Honesty and Integrity.

  • Able to work quickly and accurately under pressure.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Be able to lift and carry up to 25kg.


Must be able to work abnormal hours (weekends and public holidays).
