Job description
The main purpose: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager: National Sales to lead our National Sales Department. This pivotal role oversees all national market segments which are but not limited to national conferences, trade fairs, film & photo shoots, special events, other events, and banquets in driving revenue growth, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring operational excellence.
Reporting to the: Head of Sales
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1) Strategic leadership
Develop, implement, and manage annual sales plans for all national sales market segments.
Set and achieve revenue targets aligned with CTICC’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Identify and develop new revenue streams to expand market share.
2) Client and stakeholder management
Proactively source new clients and nurture existing relationships.
Conduct site inspections, sales calls, and presentations to showcase CTICC’s offerings.
Represent CTICC at trade shows, workshops, and industry events locally and internationally.
Collaborate with the Cape Town Convention Bureau and South African National Convention Bureau to secure repeat business.
3) Operational Excellence
Oversee daily operations of the national sales department.
Ensure seamless interdepartmental communication and event handovers.
Manage short-term sales cycles (within 3 months) while maintaining long-term growth.
Produce accurate sales, financial, and performance reports for management and the Board.
4) Team leadership
Lead, coach, and mentor the national sales team.
Conduct regular performance appraisals and identify training opportunities.
Uphold CTICC’s standards of professionalism, grooming, and service delivery.
Address staff grievances and disciplinary matters in line with CTICC policies.
Job requirements
Minimum qualifications and experience:
A three (3) year National Diploma in Tourism or Hospitality Management (NQF Level 6).
At least ten (10) years’ experience in working in a commercial or corporate environment.
At least three (3) years’ experience in a middle management or supervisory role.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong business acumen with proven ability to build networks and drive revenue.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Assertive, confident, and able to thrive under pressure.
Innovative thinker with the ability to apply creative solutions to complex challenges.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of CTICC systems advantageous.
Detail-oriented with strong time management and delegation skills.
